Ozempic (semaglutide) is used for type 2 diabetes in adults to improve blood sugar levels and also used to lower the risk of major cardiovascular events like stroke, heart attack or death, for adults with type 2 diabetes with heart disease.

To select your dose with this 1mg pen, count the number of clicks as follows:
18 clicks = 0.25mg
36 clicks = 0.50mg
72 clicks = 1.00mg

Initial dose: 0.25 mg injected subcutaneously into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm once weekly, with or without food. After 4 weeks, your doctor may increase your dose to 0.5 mg once weekly. Your doctor may increase your dose to 1 mg once weekly, depending on how well you tolerate the medication.

Injection sites should be rotated each week.

If you miss your dose, you may administer your dose within 5 days of the missed dose.

Unused Ozempic pens without an attached needle may be stored in the refrigerator until the expiration date. Used Ozempic pens without an attached needle may be stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator until the expiration date or for 56 days, whichever occurs first. Ozempic pens should not be stored in the freezer.

Use a new needle for each injection. Even if an Ozempic pen has a new needle, it should never be shared. After each injection, dispose of used needles in a sharps disposal container.
