Flexpen® by NovoLog® and Levemir® (Name Brand)


NovoLog® FlexPen® (insulin aspart [rDNA origin] injection) is a discreet, prefilled, dial-a-dose insulin pen that goes with you almost anywhere—in a restaurant, at work, and even at home.


Levemir® (insulin detemir [rDNA origin] injection) is a long-acting insulin taken once or twice a day to help control your blood sugar between meals and while you’re sleeping. Levemir® can be used alone or in combination with diabetes pills or fast-acting insulin therapy. It can also be used in combination with a diabetes pill and GLP-1 therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes.


Uses of NovoLog® / Levemir® FlexPen®


NovoLog® FlexPen®
Comes prefilled with NovoLog® insulin and is ready to use in just a few steps. You simply dial the exact amount of insulin you need and inject by pressing a button.

The NovoLog® FlexPen® is totally disposable—no refilling is necessary. When you run out of insulin, simply dispose of the FlexPen® and start with a new one.


Levemir® FlexPen®
Levemir® insulin therapy can be taken with the Levemir® FlexPen®, a discreet, prefilled, dial-a-dose pen. It is about the size of a fountain pen, fitting neatly in your pocket or purse. Once in use, the Levemir® FlexPen® can be used for up to 42 days without refrigeration (below 86ºF), so you can store your Levemir® FlexPen® in your bedside table.

FDA insulin storage recommendations. Insulin products contained in vials or cartridges supplied by the manufacturers (opened or unopened) may be left unrefrigerated at a temperature between 59°F and 86°F for up to 28 days and continue to work.
