Diclofenac 2.32% topical gel is used to relieve pain from osteoarthritis (arthritis caused by a breakdown of the lining of the joints) in certain joints such as those of the knees, ankles, feet, elbows, wrists, and hands. Diclofenac 2.32% topical gel is used to relieve osteoarthritis pain in the knees. Diclofenac is in a class of medications called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by stopping the body's production of a substance that causes pain and reduces pain, swelling, and inflammation. Diclofenac Extra-Strength topical gel 2.32% (applied to the skin) is used to relieve pain associated with recent muscle or joint injuries such as sprains, strains, or sports injuries. It is generally used in addition to other non-medication measures (such as getting enough rest) to relieve these discomforts.
