Gris-PEG tablets contain very fine crystals of griseofulvin, an antibiotic derived from Penicillium species.

Uses of Gris-PEG

This medicine is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, hair and nails that do not respond to creams/lotions. Removing these infections will eliminate symptoms such as itching, red/scaly/flaky skin, and discoloration of the nails. This drug works by stopping the growth of fungus. Bacterial and yeast infections are not treated.

How to use Gris-PEG

Take this drug by mouth as directed by your doctor. For better absorption, it is best to consume it with or after a meal with a moderate amount of fat. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your specific diet, especially if you are on a low-fat diet.

The dosage is based on your medical condition and your response to treatment. For children, the dosage is also based on body weight. The duration of treatment depends on the type of infection. Treatment of infections of the scalp, feet, and body can take weeks or months to complete. Nail infections can take months to a year or more to treat.
